About This Role
The Community Outreach Assistant supports the planning and implementation of outreach activities, community meetings, awareness campaigns and feedback mechanisms. The role serves as a bridge between UNEEP programmes and the communities we serve, ensuring that programming is informed by local voices and that beneficiaries are aware of the services, resources and opportunities available to them.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing outreach activities, community meetings and awareness sessions
- Mobilise community members and stakeholders for programme events and consultations
- Document community feedback and share insights with programme teams
- Support translation, interpretation and culturally sensitive communication
- Maintain records of community contacts, attendance and engagement metrics
- Distribute information, education and communication (IEC) materials
- Support local-language messaging and community-level reporting
Requirements
- First-level degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Communications, Community Development or related field
- 0–2 years of experience in community engagement, outreach or volunteer mobilisation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with the local context and ability to work with diverse community groups
- Fluency in English and at least one local language
- Willingness to travel to field sites and work flexible hours when required
